We just picked up our 2025 Dual Motor Max Pack R1S on July 31st and have been quite impressed so far. Coming from a 2023 Model X, the Rivian has certainly allowed us to be far more adventurous on back roads again.

I was expecting more squeaks and rattles being one of the very early builds of the new generation, but so far the cabin has been pretty quiet, only real issue so far has been the door handles. They were squeaking when presenting and the delivery specialist noted it, but they already seem to be starting to quiet down. So might give them a little more time before asking service to take a look.

The ride quality with the 20" A/Ts has been good, especially on the gravel roads with potholes and washboard. I have found on rougher paved roads, using All Purpose in Standard ride height with Moderate suspension firmness has been the ideal setting allowing enough travel to absorb the larger bumps while not porpoising too much. For the gravel roads and trails, All Terrain mode in High with Soft suspension firmness does a great job with the larger bumps and potholes. Certainly a nice change from the 1984 Toyota Pickup I used to drive on trails with.

Wanted to test out the Lectron NACS to CCS adapter on the return of our last trip to see if it worked or any further account setup was needed, but sadly the couple V3 Superchargers on our route back were all full, will try again this weekend. At home, have been using a NACS to J1772 adapter and that works great at 48 amps from load sharing Tesla Wall Connectors. Will be interesting to see how charging goes on our ~2000 mile road trip planned for next month, I know charging times will be a little longer from what I am used to due to lower efficiency/peak speeds and larger capacity battery, but curious how thermals will be with the redesigned pack.

Still getting used to the accelerator pedal response in the Rivian, seems to be difficult to move small amounts as the pedal requires a fair bit of travel before the vehicle starts to lurch forward and the pedal response in general is much more delayed from what I have been used to. Hoping sport mode with the performance upgrade improves the pedal response. The high regen setting is certainly welcomed and does a great job slowing down such a heavy vehicle.

Quite happy with the R1S and the customer service has been great with the guides and delivery specialists I interacted with.

Haha, thanks! That was one of the first thing I did after I submitted my order, figured if I was going in might as well go all the way.

Now I am just wishing I kept a little more back for off-roading accessories......

This looks like a cool camping spot. Where did you take your Rivian out to?

Welcome to the Rivian family and for your feeback. I too agree with how much pedal it requires to start the vehicle, with it being most noticeable for us in reverse. Enjoy your new adventure and once again welcome to Rivian ownership and the forums.

We just did a quick overnight trip in the Tillamook State Forest and played around on some of the Class II OHV trails in the morning before the closure times due to the fire restrictions.

Huge congrats!

If you don't mind sharing, what is the efficiency of the AT Dual Max on the freeway?

Congrats! Looks like you're putting it to good use already. What tyres are the AT 20s-Goodyear? Cheers.

Haven't had any long freeway stretches yet to check efficiency, but will report back once I have some numbers.

Came with the AT Pirelli Scorpion. I think only the LFP models are getting the AS Goodyear right now.

Glad everything meets your expectations. I assume the AC works just fine. There have been reports of AC issues with early 2025 vins. My 2025 R1S DMax delivery was delayed initially due to dynamic roof supply issues and then days before deliver since Rivian will be replacing my HVAC unit. My vin is 47365. If you don't mind what is your vin.

Like you I see the R1S as my backcountry and snow vehicle - so new x-ice will be added in the Fall.

So far the AC has been working well, my spouse was impressed at how cool it felt from the vents. I have noticed the cooling fan seems to noticeably ramp up when slowing down and pretty much only operates at full speed when stopped. Surprisingly, the heat pump noise its self is pretty minimal, only audible over the cooling fan when first getting in the vehicle after heat soaking in the sun or cranking the temperature to Lo. My VIN is 48XXX, so maybe not as early as I thought?

I have been looking into getting a set of dedicated winter tires for the R1S. Had a set of X-ICE on my Model S in the past and was quite impressed with their performance. Have you found an option that will keep the 34" outer diameter or will it need to be 33"?
